Dunaskin Street is named after Dunaskin Ironworks, which was a 19th century iron and brick works located near Waterside, about 10 km south of Dunaskin Street.

Dunaskin Mill, which is located on Dunaskin Street in Glasgow, is not directly related to Dunaskin Ironworks, but it was also a former industrial site that was converted into student accommodation .

The Mill was renovated and opened as a modern and stylish living space for students in 2016, offering en-suite rooms and studios, as well as various facilities and amenities .
